"inchar las pelotas" (August 24, 2015)

Ready for the rain
aaaahhhhhhh
what a week. in terms of people, the flia baigorria said they needed a few weeks to do a lot of work they had and theyd call us when we could pass by again. we couldnt find claudia in her house or the flia oviedo. we dropped mery and a few others that werent progressing...so as of right now we dont have anyone haha just a few contacts were going to pass by.
less actives..we taught laura and she said she knew she needed to separate with her boyfriend but this sunday she didnt come. so were going to have to see what happened.
everyone else just kinda was there idk. but hey! theres going to be weeks like this. it just means god is preparing other people to receive the restores gospel :) segimos  adelante!
this wedenesday we taught seminary. the teacher called us tuesday night and said she needed us to teach it haha so we did. later that day we were taking a bathroom break in the church when a lady walked in. shes from tucuman and asked if we could help her. shes a member who was here for medical stuff and wanted to get in contact with the members here! so we helped her. after that, my compy got really sick with a cold and we had to stay inside the whole day and the next day and the next. so that was our week!
i started   to read the new testament! ive read the three gospels already so i started in acts. it made me remember that one show on tv about the apostles that we watched every once in a while, its called AD or something like that. :)
a member wanted us to come eat dinner in their house so we got permission for that this week. the members here are literally the best. everyday im so thankful for them!
okay so something funny!

hna valencia's bike has been broken for a few weeks so a member offered to fix it! well on our way to pic up her bike we needed to take mine too, well we didnt want to walk and carry a bike so we both rode it! valencia sat in the front and i pedaled! it was pretty funna!
this week i studied a ton! but i really wanted to focus on understanding more of grace. i read the talk "the gift of grace" by dieter f uchtdorf. he says at one part "salvation cannot be bought with the currency of obedience, it is purchased by the blood of the son of God." while it is essential that we obey and serve god, in the end it is not enough to overcome the demands of justice.we must obey but in the end the atonement is what saves us. may we always have the desire to change and become better. that we allow His grace to carry us over the barriers we cannot overcome. and that we are always active in our own continual conversion. (acts15:11)
i love you all.
oh! the subject line is what a man told us when we contacted his house. it was 8 at night and everything fell through. this phrase means, "why would you come to annoy all the people at this time"...its not very nice hahaha
and with all of that i love you all and take care this week!

with an abuelita who made her a scarf.
Eating burritos. Surprised to see tortillas!

"no es todo de color rosa" (August 17, 2015)

hi fam and friends!
i hope you all had a great week!
in argentina its been good! a lttle crazy! this week literally flew by! i couldnt belive it! i feel like it should be thursday from last week! haha anyways!
in terms of inv.
flia baigorria-
this week we stopped by and found out they arent married #tears. but wow we had a great lesson about baptism and we talked about the requirements. we told them they needed to get married and they said they would seriously consider it...so here we are going to have a wedding!!! woohoo!! well hopefully haha they didnt show up to church this week and there really wasnt any reason why they couldnt...so we´ll see what the deal is.
claudia
we had to drop her because she has no desire to come to church or change religion
and thats about it! haha
less actives.
we visited some less actives this week and wow what miracle.
theres a less active named laura. shes 30 with 2 daughters, 15, and 10. the daughters come to church regularly with their grandparents (our ward mission leader) but laura is juntada (living with) her boyfriend who is 19 years old and has the most profound unibrow ive ever seen. haha anyways we passed by and finally found her in her house alone. we had a wonderful lesson about the atonement. she wants to separate from this boy and come back so she can be sealed to her parents and be an example to her kids. she has a firm testimony just has  had a hard time these past few years. well we have been praying alot for her and she come to church this sunday! she is so special and has such a grand potential. please pray for her!
other than that its just been the normal mission life. the stls (sister trainer leaders) came this week and that was fun! in the night hna valencia and i planned pranks to get back at them for what they did to us when we did divisions the last time (the little cups outside our door). so in the morning, hna valencia put dish soap on the toilet seat and cut the lights so when the hnas went to the bathroom they sat in soap! hahaha it was so stupid but funny.
okay more funny things that happened this week. we were walking and a guy on a moto drove by super slow and said in english "i love you baby...youre so hot" the only reason thats funny is because he said it in english haha. also we ate really bad this week. we bought hamburgers, and ice cream and so as a consequence, we decided to eat only healthy this week and if we have desires to eat sweets or burgers, and buy a candy or something, we have to give the other person the same amount of money that we had to pay...so its like were paying twice. i think this will work hahaha anyways!
oh fun story..while we were making calls this week one of the members asked who was talking on the phone, if it was the yankee of peruvian, and i said it was me and she said said congrats! you speak like a latina! being with a latina really helps.
spiritual!
today i studied grace. i read in 1 peter 5:5 that as we are humble, we allow Gods grace to come into our lives. humility and grace are related in the aspect that we can only receive help from God when we are humble. as we do this he will perfect us and help us be better everyday. ill continue to study grace but those are just a few thoughts for today. always trust in god. he will take care of us and will help us return to him. even the most righteous person in the world cant return to God without grace. after all that we can do, grace takes over. i love you all and i hope you all have a wonderful week!
besitos!!!!

A failed attempt to make tortas fritas
rain rain rain. that is this week haha so yeah uhm until next week! haha just kiddingso update on the peeps of one eyed man (venado tuerto)

flia baigorria
THEY ACCEPTED A BAPTISMAL DATE. yay! so we had an amazing lesson with them on wednesday of the restoration. they have many family problems but they are willing to put these things aside to find the truth. theyve assisted so many churches and told us okay, yours is the last church were going to try. we know that they will feel the spirit. so they were so pumped to come to church right? Saturday night and Sunday morning it rained like noooo other oh my gosh it was loco. and they didnt make it to church but we will be able to pass by this week.
claudia
shes an old investigator and were trying to work with her. she said shed come to church and we got her a ride and everything but with the rain, the car wasnt able to make it to her house so she wasnt able to go.
haydee
a miracle! shes a friend of members and we came to the members house to use the bathroom, she was there so we stayed a little, she is also an old inv but was very hard hearted then. we taught her more and went to her house two days later to teach her. the member was with us and we watched the restoration. she felt the spirit and also was super excited to come to church. the member was going to give her a ride but the rain. she also lives in an area without paved streets so it was impossible to get her. she didnt make it.
so all in all we had an amazing week! yet in perfect argentine weather fashion, the rains came down and the floods came up and no one came to church.
:)
but its all good. :)
funny: one day it was raiing quite as much and we were with the bikes. a little puppy from the street kept following us so we put it in the basket of the bike and rode around with a puppy for an hour, an inv took her in and named her lola :) On Staurday we went to have lunch but the member said its our turn to cook, hna valencia hurt her foot so i cooked with help of one of the members friends who is from a different branch! we made milanesa napolitana with rice! it was so gooooood. also fun thing, haydee, the inv, told me i sound like an argentine when i speak and she was very surprised to hear im from good ole cali! yay! #goals

spiritual: i read mosiah 3:17 this week. i love this scripture because it is so simple, and straightforward. the only way we can receive salvation is through christ. he is the only way. also i was thinking alot about the spirit. and how important it is that we have it so we canbe guided everyday of our lives. we should do everything we can do to have it with us always.

also one last thought to end the email. God created man to be happy. naturally we should be happy people. sometimes the affects of life get us down. sometimes we fall short and make mistakes but we shouldnt let this turn us into sad people. God knows our potential. he knows what kind of persons he wants us to be, or needs us to and expects us to be. all we need to do is trust in his love. follow the example of christ, and do all we can do to be who he needs us to be. love you all so much!

love

"I can't carry the ring for you, but I can carry you" (August 3, 2015)

Making the Pancake Batter
a slight return to my lotr (Lord of the Ring) references. so ill explain this one right now. this morning it was super hard to get up because we went to seminary to help the teacher and make pancakes. we woke up at 500 and left by 530. when the alarm went off, hna valencia didnt get up...i tried waking her up but she wouldnt. so i lifted her up and said "i cant carry it for you, but i can carry you!" then i dropped her and she woke up hahaha
Seminary Class
okay so this week. super good! except on thursday night it rained....but when i say rain i mean we couldnt sleep becuase in argentina when it raines it pours, screams, thunders, all types of sounds. we couldnt sleep the whole night because of the thuinder and lightening. i had clothes drying so i had to go outside and get them because the wind was crazsy and they wouldve flown away. haha so the next morning was death.
in terms of people,
Playing "Dress Up"
gisela- we went to teach her and her boyfriend that lives with her is an atheist, we taught them both but it was pretty hard. the oviedos have been busy all week but we have a new family
flia bigoria. theyre references from the members. super good and we taught them the plan of salvation. i think theyll progress :)
we felt inspired to go into the house of a member to use the bathroom haha and when we went, she had a friend over and her daughter. turns out they are less actives that arent even on the ward list but theyre neighbors. her name in angela and her daughter is guadelupe. she is 11. not baptized. well we started to talk to her and come to find out shes going through a really hard time right now, her other daughter (16) is living with her bf (boyfriend) (21) and is using drugs and isnt living a good life. we testified of the power of the atonement and that if she returned to the church she would be able to help her daughter. well angela didnt have any desires to come back so we asked some more questions. randomly i asked do you believe in the Book of Mormon and that its scripture? she said no....so now we know what her doubt is. we said if the book of mormon isnt true it means the church isnt true. basically. the BOM is the cornerstone of our religion. it is the evidence of the restoration. so now we have an appt to go and drop cain on the book of mormon. we feel she has potential and also her daughter wants to be baptized! so we will see what happens.
all in all it was a good week
less active with her dog floppy :)
funny:sunday night we dressed up in sheets and scarves and made a music video to the song what manner of man is this. the song dad hates because its really creep and is "jesus rock" so we continue to be are fun crazy selves.we also made pancakes for seminary so thats fun!
spiritual. im reading in 3 nephi and these verses struck me, 3 ne 13:21, 24
at first christ is teaching us that where we put our treasures is where we put our hearts. so lets put our treasures in heaven so our hearts are focused on heaven. also the second verse is great because it says we can only serve one master. god, or the things of the world. so this week i hope we can all focus on who we are going to serve and where we want our hearts to be.
love you all !!!!!
